What's it like to administer a HIPAA compliant electronic medical
record platform? It is easier than you might think. The iBHealth
Novasoft services are built on an analogy. Remember those walls
of manila folders that crowd every doctor's office or clinic you
have ever been in? The network's online services replace them all
and in an instant make them all one huge folder system. We call
it the Novasoft Megafolder Platform.
 Everyone
needs privacy and security regarding their personal health and medical
information. No one can enter an area of the system without their
proper signing in and password acceptance. So the entrance to your
personal medical center would look something like this.
Once past security and signed in, you are presented with your personal
main menu. You determine what the first screen looks like and what
is presented when you return. For instance, you may want the program
to remind you of future appointments or deadlines you have pending.
You may want a short list or directory to come up with message histories,
it is really up to you. In this demonstration frame we have left
the basic menu options in the left hand margin as navigation bars.
As the administrator of this personal medical record system you
will want to establish the preferences, such as the collection of
areas and activities you coordinate and store data about, all placed
in the format you will access them in day-to-day.
The program stores all of your calendar information and can be used
as an interactive broadcasting center, sending and receiving messages
from your personal health team regarding care strategies, treatment
progress, testing or fitness monitoring.
You may need to collect or circulate information to those in your
personal health management circle or your clinic. The bulletin list
distributes these messages to those you authorize.
You can search your folder or EMR system to find a patient or contact
by a number of methods. This includes a "sounds like"
and name or title search function.
In the clinic environment, the program allows an unlimited number
of new patient folders to be created. Each of the individual patient
records represents its own system of manila folders. You the administrator
can put anything or attach anything you deem essential to the folder.
Folders can be made into groups and content searches can yield reports
of treatment history and any critical data requested.
Letters and reports are often needed for insurance claims, litigation
or medical history filing. The system allows you the administrator
to use form letter reports, industry standard forms, customized
report formats and do intensive system content searches. For instance,
if a clinic needed to know all the incidents where a particular
drug was prescribed to patient. A report could be generated in minutes
giving full details of that activity and any mention of side effects.
