short articles are easy to understand and remember. They are written to
help you to gradually change your lifestyle to one of health, so you
will actually get healthier as you get older, just as I have done. At
this time, October, 2002, I am 63 and have the health of a college
athlete, and so is my personal doctor, Dr. Tim Smith who is 60 and has
a family practice in Berkeley, CA for 30 years. In the previous article (Most Alzheimer's Disease Can Be Prevented), I referred to his book RENEWAL, by St. Martin's Paperbacks, which costs $7.00. Its ISBN # is 0-312-97209-1. It
provides sound medical information about disease prevention and which supplements and doses to take.
The
entire book of 684 pages instructs us how to slow down aging, prevent
most diseases Weight Loss , and even to reverse many of them. He has sections on the
etiology (causes) of aging, what food to eat and what food to avoid,
which supplements to take, recipes, and exercises.
For example, on the following
pages, he describes how to prevent Alzheimer's Disease: 138, 140, 253,
350, 357-360, 389-394, 441-443, 447-448.
On page 395 is a
list of nutritional supplements to prevent Alzheimer's Disease. Dr.
Smith calls this age-proofing the brain, by phosphatidylserine,
phosphatidylcholine, acetyl L-carnitine, pregnenolone, ginkgo biloba,
B-complex vitamins found in a quality multivitamin formula, extra
Vitamin E, essential fatty acids from flaxseed oil and borage oil,
ginseng, and DMAE (dimethylaminoethanol). [In the section on Ginseng,
he distinguishes between Red Korean, Panax and Siberian ginseng].
Please
do NOT go out and buy a dozen bottles of supplements, thinking they
will provide you with a "quick-fix" for your diseases. There is NO
quick-fix to disease prevention and reversal. Most prescription
medicines do not cure disease but only cover-up the symptoms. And most
prescription medicines then cause their own diseases, called
side-effects. In fact, last year, 110,000 people in this country died
from side-effects of prescribed medicines, and many more thousands were
afflicted with long-lasting illnesses. This statistic appears in
another Article, but I restate it here because it's so important.
Most
adult diseases can be prevented and even reversed by proper nutrition,
exercise and supplements. There is no quick-fix to your diseases, but
there is solid HOPE for you. I bring you solid HOPE that most adult
diseases can be prevented, and even reversed, by what you do with your
body. You are not a victim of your heredity. Your health is under your
control. This is very good news indeed!
