Hope is what we bring to you
by: Ted Langely, PhD.

These articles are short and easy to understand and to remember, because I want to help you to become as healthy as you can be. My goal is to help you to gradually change your lifestyle so you will become healthier as you get older. If you maintain the same lifestyle you're now in, your health will deteriorate as you get older. That's just what happens to most people. But that doesn't have to happen to you. There's a LOT you can do easily to improve your health.

HOPE is what I bring to you ... hope that is based on learning about healthy ways and gradually incorporating healthy ways into your life. I want to motivate you to want to learn about healthy living, so I'll provide you with short, easy lessons. And I'll encourage you to take small steps by reading and by doing. It only takes a small effort each day, and it's well worth it!

I don't provide a "quick fix" or a "miracle diet", but lessons in small changes of lifestyle that will gradually strengthen your immune system. And if you have a strong immune system, most of the adult diseases can be prevented; and most adult diseases can be partially, & sometimes completely, reversed. Another article will explain the immune system in more detail.

The message of this article is HOPE.

You are not "doomed" to have the same diseases as your relatives. Yes, there are inherited tendencies for certain adult diseases, but the effects of your lifestyle are FAR greater than genetic influences, for most people. I'll put in some numbers so you can better grasp the relative influences of heredity and lifestyle on adult diseases. It is my opinion that adult diseases, for most people, result 5 - 10% from heredity and 90 - 95% from their lifestyle.

It is also my opinion, from 40+ years of studying health matters and from my personal observations, that 90 - 95% of the common adult diseases are contracted by overweight people.

Future articles will give you specific lessons about what to do to improve your health; but for now, I want to impart HOPE to you ... hope that there is a healthier future for you, no matter what your condition or age. If you are well enough to read this article, or to listen to someone reading it to you, then you are sufficiently alive and capable of helping yourself, as the staff of iBHealth teaches you & encourages you to eat healthy food, to do small amounts of exercise, and to realize that your health depends on your choices, and we will help you to make them. We bring you this HOPE.
